In the late 90's as a young person in my 20's, I was a "backpacker" hip hop/old school funk fan. AND, like many young people, I was ALSO very opinionated at that time about music in general....I heard this song playing in a club in San Jose, CA... and decided right then, that, because of THIS song, I hated all of EDM (!!) ..I felt this "Down Down Down" song was "the epitome of all that is wack" in the world of music (LOL!)...I wanted ALL music to keep sounding like Ahmad, The Pharcyde, SWV, Tony Tone Toni, and Roger & Zapp- But art never stands still...times change ..... Now, many years later, seeing what EDM has become, and having family members that love EDM, I've become a lot more open minded towards EDM in general and what it means to it's fans. Funny how music can unite and divide people, but I now (in 2023) I have a more open minded view of art, and I can appreciate this song (it's cool) !
